NO SOCIAL MEDIA

On November 8, 2021, I abruptly logged off social media and embarked on an ongoing performance art piece, immersing myself in a world without digital connectivity.

This work explores the profound effects of disconnecting in an era where social media shapes our identities and social interactions. My decision has elicited varied reactions: some peers insist I "have to” be on social media ," some people are offended and others celebrate my choice.

This divergence underscores a shared disillusionment with social media's current role. Once hailed for fostering connections, it now perpetuates vanity, dishonesty, and algorithmic manipulation, undermining genuine social bonds.

My experience reveals the underlying tension between societal expectations and individual well-being in the digital age.
